Zero Company Class Tier List (Pre-Launch)
An early STAR WARS Zero Company class tier list ranking the eight standard and four exotic classes by flexibility and impact — a starting framework to refine once the game launches.
Everyone wants a tier list — so here’s an honest one. Zero Company isn’t out yet, so this ranks the twelve classes by how valuable their role tends to be in a turn-based tactics game with permadeath, not by tuned numbers. Use it as a framework, and expect to revise it once the meta settles after the August 27 launch.
How we rank
In a game where you can permanently lose operatives, two things matter most: keeping your squad alive and reliably removing threats. Classes that enable the whole squad or prevent losses tend to outvalue pure damage. Flexibility also counts — a class that’s useful on every mission beats one that shines only in narrow situations.
The tier list
S — squad-defining
- Medic — sustain and revives directly counter permadeath; the safety net that lets you play aggressively.
- Sharpshooter — pre-emptively deletes priority threats before they act.
- Scoundrel — control and setup that multiplies everyone else’s damage.
A — strong and flexible
- Scout — information and mobility prevent the ambushes that cost operatives.
- Heavy — durability and area control anchor a squad.
- Assault — high, reliable flank damage.
B — solid, situational
- Soldier — dependable all-rounder; never a mistake, rarely the star.
- Gunslinger — excellent against grouped enemies, weaker in a vacuum.
Exotic — rated separately The exotic classes are tied to specific units, so they aren’t “picks” so much as bonuses. The Jedi Padawan (Force control) and Mandalorian Warrior (mobile burst) both look extremely strong, and the Astromech fills a support slot without risking a person. A fourth exotic class is rumoured but unconfirmed.
The caveat
Tier lists for unreleased games are educated guesses. The Advantage economy and synergy unlocks could elevate aggressive classes, and difficulty scaling changes everything. Build the squad you enjoy — read best squad composition — and we’ll publish a tuned tier list after launch.
Frequently asked questions
What is the best class in Zero Company?
It's too early for a definitive meta, but flexible, squad-enabling classes like the Medic, Scoundrel and Sharpshooter tend to be strong in any tactics game with permadeath. Treat any pre-launch tier list as a framework, not gospel.
