Blaster Rifles
The Workhorse Weapon
Blaster rifles are the backbone weapon of STAR WARS Zero Company — versatile, accurate at mid-range firearms that suit Assault, Soldier and Scout operatives across almost any mission.
One rifle, a hundred answers.
If you only learn one weapon category in STAR WARS Zero Company, make it the blaster rifle. It’s the workhorse of the galaxy’s militaries for good reason: accurate at the mid-range distances where most turn-based fights are decided, efficient with your action points, and flexible enough to fit almost any operative. In a game built on the cover and action-point loop, a dependable primary that hits reliably from cover is the foundation everything else is built on.
What blaster rifles do best
The blaster rifle’s strength is the absence of weakness. It doesn’t out-range a sniper rifle or out-muscle a heavy weapon, but it’s competent at the ranges those specialists struggle with — the medium-distance exchanges that make up the bulk of a mission. That consistency matters enormously when a single missed shot can leave an operative exposed to a permadeath reprisal. A rifle that lands its shots from cover, turn after turn, is worth more than a flashy weapon that whiffs at a critical moment.
Which operatives carry them
Blaster rifles are the natural primary for the squad’s flexible roles:
- Assault — a rifle’s accuracy supports the aggressive, flanking play the class is built for, punishing enemies whose cover you’ve stripped.
- Soldier — the all-rounder pairs perfectly with the all-rounder weapon; a rifle lets a Soldier hold a line or trade fire across the middle without specialising.
- Scout — light and mobile, the Scout wants a weapon it can fire effectively after repositioning, and the rifle obliges.
Loadout thinking
Because the blaster rifle is so flexible, it rarely defines a squad — it enables one. Build your tactics around your specialists (the Sharpshooter’s range, the Scoundrel’s control), and let your rifle-carriers be the dependable middle that ties them together. As you progress, expect weapon mods and upgrades from the Den’s terminals to let you push a rifle toward accuracy, damage or utility depending on the gap your squad needs filled.
What we don’t know yet
