Utility, Support & Survival
Gear and gadgets in STAR WARS Zero Company — armor, medical kits, droid utilities, gadgets and the equipment upgrades that keep operatives alive and bend fights in your favor.
The fight is won before the first shot — in the loadout.
Not every piece of equipment in STAR WARS Zero Company is something you shoot with. Gear and gadgets — armor, medical kits, droid utilities, shields and the upgrades you unlock between missions — are the quiet half of a loadout that decides whether your squad survives the missions a blaster can’t win alone.
What gear does best
Gear covers everything that keeps operatives standing and tilts a fight before it starts:
- Survival — armor and shields that let a durable operative hold ground, and medical kits that undo the enemy’s damage.
- Utility — gadgets that debuff enemies, reveal threats, or create the openings your damage dealers exploit.
- Droid tech — the Astromech’s repair and support tools, a whole flavour of utility unto itself.
In a game with permadeath, survival gear is never wasted. A medkit that prevents one death across a campaign does more for your roster than a marginal damage upgrade ever could.
Which operatives carry them
- Medic — medical gear is the heart of the class, turning fatal turns into survivable ones.
- Scoundrel — gadgets are its trade, dismantling enemy positions from range.
- Astromech — droid utilities fill a support slot without risking a person.
Loadout thinking and the Den
Gear is where the Den’s customisation and upgrade terminals matter most. Between missions you’ll tailor each operative’s kit — leaning into survival for a grinding defensive mission, or utility for an objective that rewards control. The black-market vendor and upgrade terminals let you turn the resources you earn into a squad that’s specialised for the fights ahead. Smart gear choices are a strategic layer that sits above the turn-based combat itself.
What we don’t know yet
The specific gear, gadgets, armor types and upgrade trees haven’t been fully detailed. We profile the category and its role here, and will expand it as Bit Reactor reveals the equipment systems ahead of the August 27, 2026 launch. For how gear fits a team, see best squad composition.
