Is Zero Company Multiplayer or Co-op?

Does STAR WARS Zero Company have multiplayer or co-op? Here's what's confirmed about the game's single-player, story-driven structure and what that means for how you'll play.

It’s one of the most common questions about the game, so let’s answer it plainly: STAR WARS Zero Company is a single-player game. No multiplayer or co-op mode has been announced.

Single-player by design

Both EA’s official site and the Steam listing describe Zero Company as a single-player, turn-based tactics experience with a story campaign. The whole design points that way: a personal narrative led by your custom protagonist Hawks, a cast of authored operatives you bond with, and permadeath stakes that are about your squad’s story. Those are single-player pillars, not multiplayer ones.

Why that’s a good thing here

A tightly authored, character-driven tactics campaign — the kind previews compare to Mass Effect — works because it’s built around one player’s choices and one squad’s arc. Bolting on competitive or co-op modes would pull against that focus. If you came hoping for a multiplayer Star Wars tactics game, this isn’t it; if you want a deep solo campaign, that focus is a strength.

Could co-op be added later?

Nothing suggests it. There’s been no mention of post-launch multiplayer, and the structure doesn’t obviously lend itself to it. We’d treat any co-op as pure speculation. If that changes, we’ll update this page — but plan for a single-player experience at the August 27, 2026 launch.
